What's the time? It's Tic-Tac-Toe Time Telling Time Flashcards Free Download
I made two sets of Telling Time Flashcards:
One set shows the times from 1 o’clock to 12 o’clock.
The second set shows the times from 1:30 to 12:30.
Each A4 page includes two flashcards showing the same time:
One card is marked with an X.
The other card is marked with an O.
This design allows you to print the pages on A4 paper and then cut them in half, resulting in two separate sets—one with X cards and one with O cards.
Here’s how I play the game with my Hoikuen-保育園 (Nursery School ) students:
Explain the Rules of Tic-Tac-Toe (Maru Batsu Game):
Make sure the students understand how to play.
Divide the Class into Two Groups:
Split the class into Team X and Team O.
Prepare a 3x3 Grid:
You can draw it on the whiteboard with a marker or create it on the floor using tape.
Decide Who Starts the Game:
Use Rock, Paper, Scissors to decide which team goes first.
Ask the Question:
The team starts by asking, "What's the time?" or "What time is it?" (The phrasing depends on the teacher’s preference).
Answer and Play:
After the students answer, they place their X or O on the grid.
Keep Playing:
Continue playing until every student has had their turn! The teacher can decide whether to keep score or not. If you choose to keep score, the winning team is the one with the most victories.
